Following his career as an all-conference member of the Yellowjacket football team, Randy Jones embarked on a coaching career that spanned nearly three decades. Jones coached football, basketball, baseball, golf, and served as a strength coach at multiple high schools in the Minneapolis-St. Paul metro area. Arguably Jones left his biggest mark in the coaching of adaptive bowling, where he led Simley High School to multiple team, individual, and doubles state championships. Jones passed away in November 2016.

Jones was a postumous recipient of the Mertz Mortorelli Coaching Achievement Award in 2017.

  • High school coach for 28 years
  • Head Coach for the National College All-Stars game – six years
  • Head Coach for the Midwest National High School All-Stars game in 2005
  • Minnesota High School State Champion Adapted Bowling Head Coach 2011 – 2013; Coach of the Year 2013
  • Section 3AAAA Coach of the Year in 2002
  • Missota Conference Football Coach of the Year in 1994
  • Inducted into the National College All-Stars Coaches Hall of Fame in 2001
