University of Wisconsin-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame
Darol Kaufmann has been vital to the advancement of the Athletics Department and the university since his arrival in 1965. Originally brought in as a member of the biology department, Kaufmann soon found himself involved with many committees on campus before joining the Athletic Committee in 1966 and serving until 1993. He was the 1998 recipient of the Carl Vergamini Award for Contributions to Yellowjacket Athletics.
Kaufmann is one of the original members of the Superior Blue Line Club (now 'Jacket Ice) and he is still serving as a member today. He was chair of the athletic committee from 1976-81, and he served as a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame Committee from 1973-88.
To say Kaufmann has done a lot for the UW-Superior Athletic Department would be an understatement, but he has also contributed to the growth of the university by serving as the coordinator of the medical technology program from 1971-96. Darol was the faculty athletic representative from 1980-93, and has been professor emeritus in biology since his retirement in May 1996.
"I spend most of my time pursuing my other interests which include bowling, cartooning, fishing and golfing," said Kaufmann.
