Curt Lahti of Peoria, Arizona, excelled in baseball and basketball at Wisconsin State University-Superior.

Mr. Lahti was named Most Valuable Player of the Yellowjacket baseball team that won the 1966 Wisconsin State University Conference Championship. He also was voted the Most Valuable Player in Wisconsin and named All-American. He led the team in hitting and as a pitcher was undefeated in conference play. His performance earned him contract offers from the Atlanta Braves and San Francisco Giants.

In basketball, Mr. Lahti posted per-game scoring and rebounding averages in double figures.

After graduating in 1968, Mr. Lahti spent 28 years teaching high school and coaching high school baseball and basketball teams, once earning the title of Ozaukee County Coach of the Year. Outside of school, he devoted time to working with youth groups
