As a faculty member at UW-Superior from 1984-02, Bob Carmack was particularly distinguished in two areas: For leading the university's library into the electronic information age and for being a fan, contributor, worker, financial backer and advocate of UW-Superior athletics. He was inducto into the UWS Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002 and received the Carl Vergamini Contributions to Yellowjacket Athletics Award.

Carmack was a Yellowjacket Ambassador since the program's beginning, serving as one of the people who help make home games work. He sold and collected tickets, sold game programs, and sold 50-50 drawing tickets. He also supported the teams through his memberships in various booster clubs.

Carmack served on the University Athletic Committee, a panel of faculty and staff members who play an important role in advising the chancellor and athletic director regarding development and review of policies and practices for all phases of intercollegiate athletic competition.

To help bring the finest athletes and coaches to Superior, Mr. Carmack served on search-and-screen committees and assisted in recruiting by writing letters, making telephone calls and visiting with prospective students visiting campus, including student-athletes.

As a faculty member, Carmack made notable financial contributions each year to assist the athletic programs.
