A Superior native who played hockey and baseball for the Yellowjackets, Rajanen was a longtime educator and coach in Minnesota, at Austin High School, Fridley High School, and Anoka High School.
After 22 years coaching at the high school level, Rajanen moved into scouting and enjoyed a lengthy scouting career for the NHL's Calgary Flames before moving into full time player evaluation as part of NHL Central Scouting, a post he holds today.
