University of Wisconsin-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame
Steve Anderson was an outstanding athlete in baseball, hockey and golf at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
During his university career, Anderson was named captain of the golf team in 1975 and 1976; captain of the baseball team in 1974, 1975 and 1976; and captain of the 1976 NAIA national championship hockey team. Described as a fierce competitor and team leader in both deeds and words, he was a starter and earned a letter for three years in both baseball and hockey.
In baseball, Anderson led the conference in batting in 1975 and 1976, and in on-base average in 1976, the year he also was named All-American. In hockey, he was among the top 10 scorers in the conference in the 1975-76 season. He was named UW-Superior's Outstanding Athlete in 1976.
After graduating, Anderson coached baseball, golf and hockey at high schools,and universities in the region, including UW-Superior. He became a golf professional in 1993 and since 2002 has been head golf professional at Lakeview National Golf Course in Two Harbors, Minn.
