A standout baseball player for the Yellowjackets in 1971, ThomasĀ Federle left UW-Superior and embarked on a 30-plus year career in education, coaching, and community service in his hometown of Springfield, Pa..Ā 

A 32-year teacher, Federle also coached at the middle school level and volunteered with numerous youth baseball associations. In addition to teaching and coaching, Federle also lent his expertise to Springfield Student Council, the Springfield Planning Commission, and sat on the board of directors for the Springfield Swim Club.
??????Upon graduation from UW-Superior, he held the following records for left handed pitcher:

  • Most total wins in a season - 8
  • Most total wins for a career - 18
  • Best win-loss record over eight decisions for year - 8 wins and 1 loss
  • Best win-loss record over 20 decisions for career - 18 wins and 5 losses
  • Lowest ERA for year - .87
  • Lowest ERA for career - under 3.0
  • Most strikeouts in a game - 12
  • WSUCĀ leader for most strikeouts (all pitchers) in a year - 48
  • WSUCĀ leader for most innings pitched in 1970 - 45
  • Team captain in senior year
  • Won the Mertz Mortorelli Most Dedicated Athlete Award as a senior
