University of Wisconsin-Superior Athletic Hall of Fame
A native of Weyerhauser, Wisconsin, Rod Daniels came to UW-Superior and was one of the anchors of the Yellowjacket football team, earning All-WSUC recognition as a guard and helping the Yellowjackets go 7-1-1 in 1962. That Hall of Fame team is arguably the best football team in school history.
After playing for the Yellowjackets, Daniels embarked on a teaching and coaching career, and he fashioned an impressive resume. Over 37 years, Daniels coached 96 different teams in five different sports. At Bloomington Jefferson High School in Minnesota, Daniels helped the Jaguars’ boys gymnastics team to a state championship in 1984, along the way posting the highest team score in state history. His teams won 10 conference championships and his 1983 team was honored as an All-American Gymnastics Team.
He also coached a pair of Bloomington Jefferson baseball teams to Lake Conference Championships and appearances in section championship games.
