Oluf "Ole" Haugsrud was a Superior businessman who owned the Duluth Eskimos, an early professional football team that was part of the foundation of today's National Football League. Haugsrud later became a part owner of the NFL's Minnesota Vikings. He was a 1983 recipient of the Carl Vergamini Contributions to Yellowjacket Athletics Award.

Among his many community activities, Haugsrud served on the UW-Superior Foundation Board of Directors from 1967-76. UW-Superior's football stadium was named Ole Haugsrud Memorial Stadium in 1954.
